     My name is Michelle Henningsgard, I am 27 years old and  I was a photo media major at the University of Washington. I fell in love with photography when I was 17 when I transferred high schools. I found myself myself alone in high school in special ed and with no friends at this new school; I hated English, I was bad at math and I struggled with all other core classes so I needed to find where I fit in. I took one photography class on a whim and found myself at home at 2 am in the morning just taking photos and playing on Photoshop. I found my outlet and I began to enter photo contest and I won my first national photo contest when I was a senior in high school. My photo was published in 2007 in the Parade Magazine Valentine's day issue. I then realized that I found my calling. 

     I began taking photos of bands at concerts because I love music just as much as photography and I later enrolled in the photography program at UW which I got into even when advisers told me it was impossible. I began exploring the artistic side of photography and really began to express my darker side with influences from nightmares and dark experiences from hard times in my life. 

     Now I am am balancing full time work while doing paid gigs on the side such as maternity shoots or senior portraits. Along with my paid gigs I work on art projects which are COMPLETELY separate from my paid work. They include models and surrealistic ideas and themes in photography and video.      I feel I learn a lot about the world and people every time I shoot with some one. I am currently working on a " People of craigslist" stranger project where I photograph couples in their homes without showing their faces but rather their true colors when no one is looking.
